Yin yoga is a slow-paced yoga practice, in fact a stillness practice, providing time to be introspective and mindful of physical sensations. In Yin we hold poses longer than we would in many other asana practices to help cultivate a deeper awareness of what is happening in us, and for us, at a given moment. There is beautiful simplicity to Yin yoga but there is also challenge in the invitation to remain in and surrender to the postures. Simon’s Thursday evening sessions offer you a chance to begin to unwind mind and body as we approach the weekend. Everyone is invited to engage at their own level.
Booking classes is simple through an online system called Momoyoga via https://simonbirchdance.com/yoga . When you access Momoyoga you will need to register with an email so that the Zoom link can be sent to you, you then locate the date on the schedule and book the class. When you book you will be given payment options – classes are open to all and there is a ‘pay what you can’ scale available when you book sessions. To register and book please go to https://simonbirchdance.com/yoga. If you can afford to pay, payments are made by BACS (bank details are provided on your booking confirmation email).
‘My deep interest in how body, mind and spirit are intrinsically linked grows out of my career as a professional dance artist and teacher which, for many years, has been accompanied by a personal yoga practice. I first started practising yoga in 2003 after I studied Dynamic Yoga on a Windfire Yoga retreat with Godfrey Devereux. I completed my yoga teacher-training at the Falmouth Yoga Space and my Yin yoga teacher- training at the Academy of Yoga Training, Bath. I am a member of Yoga Alliance Professionals. I have 25 years teaching experience, working as a dance lecturer in Higher Education; I am currently a part-time Senior Lecturer for the BA (Hons) Dance and Choreography at Falmouth University.
My yoga classes draw on my experience as a professional dance artist and yogi. My sessions focus on the fundamentals of placement and the use of breath and offer a route to physical and emotional wellbeing. Information about my artwork and yoga can be found on my website SIMON BIRCH DANCE .’
